CHRONOS Database Section
Introduction
A primary consideration in the design of CHRONOS is the creation of a system that incorporates the widest variety and number of existing databases without subjecting them to costly revisions, and that will facilitate the continual addition of new databases hosted at different institutions. As such, raw data will continue to reside in the CHRONOS-affiliated databases ('federated databases') with 'thematic task group' coordination on data-exchange formats and other standards. One of CHRONOS's goals is also the creation and maintenance of new thematic databases ("hosted databases").
